Borough Market
Northfield Farm at Borough Market
At Northfield Farm, we have been selling our farm-reared, high quality British meat at Borough Market for over 25 years.
We sell traditional and rare breed meat from our family run farm. From grass-fed beef and lamb to our free-range pork, all of our meat is slowly grown in Rutland, and shipped directly to Borough Market to provide high-quality, fresh meat.
We are proud to specialise in regenerative, sustainable farming methods and proud to be able to sell to our customers at Borough Market.
There is a deep and strong connection between Northfield Farm and Borough Market. It exists on many levels.
Time, Northfield Farm has been a 30+ year, overnight success.
For 27 years of that time, the two have been inextricably intertwined.
Northfield Farm is the engine-room of our business, it is where its vertically integrated identity begins, and from where the business is managed.
The Farm is where the story started, a young’ish couple with three children under 5 set upon a path to breed, raise and source the very best traditional British farm animals and follow the process through to the homes of individual consumers. While this is still very much the case, Borough Market is our main sales outlet to discerning end-consumers. It is an invaluable combination of commerce, marketing, community and history.
Without Borough Market, we would have Northfield Farm, which is our home as well as our business base. Without Northfield Farm, we would not have the integrity that draws customers to us from near and afar.
Our Family Connection at Borough Market
Everything we do at Northfield Farm is family run, with Leo and Jan McCourt handling the farm in Rutland. Dom McCourt, leads the butchery at Borough Market.
Committed to our Customers and our Animals
At Northfield Farm, we care about our customers, ensuring they receive meat that provides a real taste, texture and quality. We also deeply care about our animals ensuring we provide open living spaces, shelter that suits them, high quality feed and ethical farming practices.
Our opinion cattle are at their best when they’re fed on grass. Ours spend most of the year grazing pasture and clover, which is how they’re meant to live and how meat develops its best character. We sometimes have to supplement our finishing cattle with a locally grown rolled barley blend, depending on what the weather is doing and how this affects grass growth.
