*AVIALABLE FROM 19TH DECEMBER*
Another multi generational family farm produces the fabulous free-range, corn-fed cockerels and chickens we are proud to supply at Christmas time and throughout the year.
The family farm is fully environmentally soundly run with mixed arable, game cover, woodland, and livestock moving in rotation and allowing fully sustainable and welfare-oriented production.
The cockerels have wonderfully firm, creamy yellow flesh and skin. They are slow-grown, largely outdoors, and produce super chickeny chicken, with outstanding flavour and texture.
The cockerels range in size from 3kg/6lb – which would feed 6 with leftovers, up to about 5.5kg/11lb – to feed about 10 with some leftovers. Although we always try to help everyone, right until the very last moment before the doors close on Christmas Eve, we strongly recommend that you pre-order your Christmas Cockerel if this is your choice this year.
Either telephone us to reserve the size you want for collection from our shops or market stalls in Oakham and Uppingham, or order online for mail order deliveries, local deliveries or click and collect from Rutland and Borough Market.

We’ve had cockerels for many years, but none so tasty as this – pure quality.

Was amazing, not only tasty and moist throughout but we couldn’t believe how much meat was on it. Could easily have fed 12.

I have been eating Packintgton chicken for since 2009. I am truely not a complainer however I have to say that the two birds I ordered for Christmas were not freshly slaughtered and delivered to the farm shop. it was very disappointed when I see the cuttings on the legs where the paws were cut off and cutting of the neck showed they were not fresh. The two birds were collected on 19/12/2020. I opened the packaging the same day that I collected the order it could tell that the birds seemed slaughtered a while ago before the delivery to the farm shop. the farm shop stated that the delivery was 18/12/2020. Can Packington make improvement for the next Christmas and make it flesher to customers. I rate this 3 because of this. there is no doubt about the quality and the taste of the bird is excellent, no birds that I have come across the whole UK can be beaten Packington. I would like Packington freshly killed and delivered to a royal customer like myself. Thank you for accepting my experience and hope there will be improvement next Christmas.
