Our Beef Mince, perhaps more than any other cut of meat, you get what you pay for. Which is why we use who muscle cuts of dry aged beef. Northfield Farm’s lean or medium fat minced free-range beef perfect for all kinds of recipes comes from the same traditional and heritage breeds as our prime steaks and roasting joints.
Our minced beef is economical, but it is not cheap! We use beautiful matured shoulder, neck, flank and brisket offcuts with a little bit of fat marbling to make our mince. It is always available, but we generally like to mince it fresh to order for our customers in the shop, or for our mail order and delivery customers.
Our beef mince smells fresh and beefy, has a beautiful dark red colour and generally just a few flecks of fat running through it to keep it moist and as it cooks. Unlike supermarket mince, our meat is flavourful and unlikely to need the addition of endless stock cubes to add taste. The ultimate, lip-smacking goodness is built in!
Like all of our meat, our minced beef is very much suitable for home freezing. In our opinion, about 15-20% fat content is the right amount for most recipes such as cottage pie, meatballs, bolognese and home-made burgers.
