These specialist rice varieties are from generations of Vercelli rice farmers in the Po Valley of Piemonte. The grain is cultivated without herbicides and stored in atmospherically controlled conditions.
Nerone Italian Black Rice. Cultivated organically on very few farms in Italy’s lush Po valley, this is some of the finest black rice we’ve encountered. It boasts a rich,nutty buttery flavor with a slightly sweet finish perfect for both sweet and savory dishes.
When cooked, the rice takes on an enchanting dark indigo/purple nearly black color. It is naturally high in fibre, iron, and Vitamin E. It goes particularly well with hearty casseroles, and robust fish, shellfish and vegetable dishes.
