There’s a new name on the tea list

Pretty much every decision on this farm gets made in our Portakabin over a mug of tea. It arrived when Dad started Northfield in 1994 and it’s outlasted everything we’ve bought since.
Sit in it on a Monday morning and you’ll meet most of us. Dad, whose tea has to be strong enough to stand a spoon in. Dom, calling in from Borough Market. Marc, our expert in more or less everything on the production side. And as of last month there’s a new name on the list: Becca, my better half & mother of our 2 girls, who’s officially joined the farm team. Her tea order, for the record, is Yorkshire, milky, no sugar. You will be speaking to her more as we enter the festive period and if you need any assistance with your orders. She does love to natter, so I warn you now.
Let us choose your order for you
People use the phrase “family farm” quite loosely these days. Here, as you can see, it means the person who raised your beef, the person who cut it and the person who packed your box all know each other’s tea orders. And it also means a real person responds when you get in touch.
Case in point: a customer rang last week with six people coming for dinner and no idea what to order. They didn’t want to spend a fortune or a whole day in the kitchen. We sent them a rolled rump. One joint, roasted whole, carved, pink and juicy.
Because when you buy from a farm like ours you don’t need to know the which cut you want, you just need to tell us who’s coming.
Becca’s Favourites
Two great options for different occasions. The ribeye steak; the perfect combination of fat and meaty just how she likes it. And Piero’s Porchetta, an outstanding centre piece to any Sunday gathering and one Becca loves to include on the Christmas menu.
