The truly old-fashioned corn-fed whole chicken we are proud to supply throughout the year come from a terrific grassland family farm in Staffordshire.
This multi generational family farm is fully environmentally soundly run with mixed arable, game cover, woodland, and livestock moving in rotation and allowing fully sustainable and welfare-oriented production. The whole chicken has a wonderfully firm, creamy yellow flesh and skin. They are slow-grown, largely outdoors, and produce super chickeny chicken.
They are dry plucked, with no extra water being pumped into the carcase, leaving us with outstanding flavour and texture. Chickens should not be cheap or flavourless if they are reared properly.
They are usually about 2kg in weight, will happily feed 6 people, or provide 2-3 meals or snacks to a smaller family.
